I have done the roof panels. The prototype features a wood shingle roof, as far as I can see from my old photos. It took some experimenting to find a way of modeling that. I wanted it as true to the prototype as possible, but still take an acceptable time to finish. This is one of the panels, but not yet stained or weathered.
And this is how I did it: I started with the same 0.4 mm plywood that I used for the walls and measured and marked for scribing and cutting.
I then scribed the ply using a dental tool to give the impression of individual shingles.
Next I made horisontal cuts, forming strips of shingles side by side.
Then I glued the strips horizontally on to sheet styrene, with the strips overlapping some.
And that's more or less it. 😀
